Chapter 14 ~ A turn for the better

"Argh. This is getting much harder. Stupid boss thinks I don't work out enough."

Fortunately for Pazia, exercise was one of the only things at the moment that was still difficult for her.
And why? Oh yeah it was because she'd just told Jayden that she was preggers in a desperate attempt to still keep him around.

"Jayden, is that lobster?" Pazia asked, surprised to ever see lobster in her life.
"Yeah it is, I read in a magazine that fish is supposed to make you smarter so I figured if you eat fish maybe the baby might be smart." Jayden said, trying to sound as scientific as possible.
"Oh, I guess that's plausible."
Jayden had become a self-declared slave to Pazia, making sure she ate the right food, she was comfortable and happy. But truth was, Pazia wasn't really pregnant.
"Your back must be really sore, let me massage it."
"Wow this is really good. Have you been taking massage classes?"
"Yes I have! But I have a question to ask, why aren't you in maternity clothes?"

Argh, I forgot about those...
"Oh I was going upstairs to change just now."
These seem fat enough around the waist... What if Jayden finds out I'm not really pregnant. Then I'll tell him, but mom says I'll know for sure in around three days. It's three days tomorrow...
So the next day Pazia just sat in front of a clock and waited.
And waited...
And waited...

Okay it'll be three days in exactly five minutes...
 And as five minutes past.

Alright, it's time for the truth. The absolute truth, I got myself into this and now it's time to confess.
He's not out here, must be in the nursery preparing stuff. Now it all has to go to waste...
 Or maybe not...

Yes yes yes yes YES!!
And she rushed up to the nursery as quick as she could to tell Jayden the good news.
 "So Jayden guess what."
"What?"
 "I'm pregnant!" Pazia proudly declared.
"Yeah I know isn't it great? I'm so happy!"
"But uh why are you telling me again?"

Crap.. I forgot about that.
"Oh no reason. I also wanted to discuss baby names with you."
"Great I was thinking Allison if it's a girl and Alford if it's a boy."
 "Alford? Allison? What? Why?"
"Oh because my granddad's name was Alford and he was such a great guy and I just like the name Allison. Is there anything wrong with them?"
"Well... It's just that they sound... Really old. No offence or anything. I want them to be modern and exotic sounding. Maybe like Cato and Ally."
"And plus my family has this tradition to name the next generation kids after whatever fish comes next, with us being the Fish family."
 "Yeah? Well what's this generation?"
"I think it's the Alley Catfish. Hence Ally and Cato."
"But Alford and Allison also sound like they could come from that."
 "Ehh well..."
"Ok how about this? Ally if it's a girl and Alford if it's a boy."
 "I guess that's fine then. Fifty-fifty chance."

Hope it's a girl.
And they also did some reading about parenting.

Jayden: Wow, feeding, cleaning, caring, teaching... and potty training. This book has it all. I must get every detail so I can take proper care of my little Alford or Ally.

Pazia: And I have to do what after potty training???

And even though she was preggers she still kept a tight work-out schedule.
"Hey hey heeey, are those maternity clothes. Oh I knew it!" Annie said proudly as she walked by.
"Yes mom you were right, as usual."
Bleagh what is this? More fish... This is getting irritating.
"Uh huh, yes sir. Yes, great I'll be there in about half and hour."
"Hahaha yeah it's great isn't it. I'm going to be a father!."
"Who were you talking to? Where are you going to be in a half hour?"
"I think you mean where are we going to be in a half hour. We're going to meet with Mr. Rhodes at school. Can you believe he's still the headmaster?"
"Why?"
"Because I want our child to have a good education so I want to check out our school."
Heh school, never thought I'd be back...
"Wow wasn't that interesting, but I have some concerns about it. How was it for you?"
"I thought I was fine. Nothings really changed since we went there."
"Which is exactly my problem, nothings changed. Still the same old school. No improvements. Nothing."
"I was thinking about maybe sending him or her to boarding school."
"What? Boarding school? That's so overrated. Nothings wrong with this one."
"I think the education is better in boarding school and so is the discipline. Sure it'll cost more but I think it's worth it."
"But I really don't see a reason why our child can't come here. I mean we went here and we're fine."
"Yeah but that was us, I want our child to have an even better education and more opportunities in life."
"Ok let's not talk about this anymore, the child isn't even born yet. Let's just go to dinner."
This baby thing is so much harder than I thought...
They decided to invite Jami to dinner as well to tell her the great news.
"So Pazia do you want to tell her the news or should I?"
*cough* "Huh what news? Oh yeah sure you go on ahead."

"What news is this?" Jami asked.
"Well, we're going to be parents!" Jayden exclaimed.
"Really!? That's so sweet," Jami said as she stood up, "Can I steal Pazia for a little moment?"
"Yeah sure."
"This is the real deal? You really are pregnant or is this made up stuff?"
"Ok I'll admit that at first it was a lie because Jayden was leaving but now it is the truth. What do you think?"
"Well, I think it's great news. You prepared?"
"Hell yeah! Jayden's probably a walking encyclopedia on babies by now. But I'm still wary."
"Of what? Jayden's fully prepared and your parents are still around. There's plenty of people around to take care of the baby."

"Yeah you're right. Raising one baby can't be that hard..."

And yes Jami was right, everyone was prepared so there was nothing to worry about. How hard can raising one kid be?

Next chapter out next week! Hopefully...
